ASTM A536 Grade 65-45-12 is a normal material grade of ductile iron. It is USA grade, also equal to ISO Grade 450-10, China QT450-10, Germany GGG50, Euro EN-GJS-450-10, UK 420/12, Australia Grade 500-7.
According to the standard of ASTM A536, this material grade requires tensile strength min. 448 MPa, yield strength min. 310 MPa, elongation min. 12%.
The chemical composition is not necessary requirement, the foundry could adjust their chemical composition as their experience, but the mechanical properties as above are the necessary requirement.
This material grade has comparatively high tensile strength and elongation, so it is strong and has good ductility, moreover, this grade has good impact resistance and corrosion resistance. Therefore, this grade is suitable for making plow, furrow plough, tillage parts, seeding parts, differential case, valve body, high and low pressure cylinder, and electric transmission line parts.
