Dandong Foundry can manufacture various gray cast iron and ductile iron piston rings according to customers' requirements.
Due to the wear-resistance of the material, cast iron piston rings are used in a broad range of engine applications.
Gray cast iron piston rings:
The biggest advantage in using gray cast iron to manufacture pistons rings is that it will not gall or scuff the cylinder bore. Another reason is that it is somewhat cost-effective to manufacture.
Cast iron piston rings are used in a wide range of high-temperature and high-speed engine applications. They are low-friction, wear-resistant rings ideal for heave shock applications.
Ductile iron piston rings:
Ductile Iron piston rings can withstand a lot of bending and are very resistant to breaking. Ductile iron is twice as strong as cast iron and is used in high-output applications.
Ductile iron is used for the top compression ring because it is flexible and more resistant to heat. Cast iron is used for the secondary compression ring, which also controls the oil film and isn't as exposed to the extreme heat as the top ring. |
