Most of the pump components are casted in 60-40-18 ductile iron. It is a fairly standard ductile iron with which the foundry workers are accustomed to working.
60-40-18 ductile iron typically has a specified minimum tensile strength of 60 ksi (414 MPa) and a yield strength of 40 ksi (276 MPa). Common applications for this grade of iron include pressure-containing parts for use at elevated temperatures, as well as valves and fittings for steam and chemical plant equipment. It is a reliable choice for centrifugal pumps in a variety of applications.
