The crankcase is a key component of the automobile engine, which carries the operation of the crankshaft and plays the role of sealing and protection.
The crankcase is located in the lower half of the engine and its main function is to accommodate and support the crankshaft while ensuring oil circulation and sealing inside the engine.
Therefore, the engine crankcase must be strong enough to withstand these loads and pressures. When the cylinder block and crankcase are cast as a single unit, the iron foundry usually uses gray cast iron for production because of its rigidity, low cost and high wear resistance.
