ISO 185 JL 300 cast iron is a grey iron which contains graphite in the form of flakes.
Gray iron is more brittle than SG iron but offers good compressive strength and also good damping characteristics.
In common with all grey iron grades, ISO 185 JL 300 has good machinability. The graphite offers lubricating properties which has advantages in sliding wear applications.
