Ductile Iron ASTM A395
60-40-18 Valve Body
ASTM A395 60-40-18 is a good material
grade for making valve body castings. China foundry could make valve
body castings by this grade.
The most suitable casting process for ductile iron valve bodies will
be shell molding casting process, also called as hot shell and core
molding process, or pre-coated resin sand casting process.
This casting process could make complex outside and inside designs,
and also good surface quality and less sand casting defects. Of
course, the disadvantage will be a little higher casting prices.
The alternative production method will be the green sand casting
process. As for the most of valve body castings, normally, the order
quantity will not be very large, so not suitable for automatic
molding line, but will be suitable for semi automatic molding
machines.
