Our
foundry has an X-ray flaw detector, which can
inspect 50mm penetration depth. We used it to
inspect the inside quality for some iron castings.
When we produced the foundation plates for our clients in USA, in order to randomly inspect the inside shrinkage defects, pin holes, slag inclustion defects, we bought this X-ray flaw detector, after a while, it helped us to improve the gating system step by step.
However, this machine can not inspect complex shapes, so only can inspect the flat plates, this has restricted its application.
