Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI)
Liquid
penetrant inspection (LPI) is also called as dye
penetrant inspection (DPI), or penetrant testing
(PT), is a widely applied and low-cost inspection
method used to locate surface defects on metal
castings, such as small cracks, porosity and
shrinkage. Visual inspection can not find these tiny
defects, but those defects may seriously affect the
pressure-bearing casting parts. Our foundry is using
this inspection method for grey and ductile iron
casting products.
