SS 416 410 stainless steel casting manufacturer and
steel foundry in China
Our foundry could manufacture 416 SS and
410 SS stainless steel castings by sand casting process and lost wax
investment casting process.
The followings are some main properties of 416 steel.
Stainless Steel - Grade 416 (UNS S41600; ASTM A582)
416 SS is Y1Cr13 in China steel grade, please notice that 410 SS is
1Cr13, so do not mix them. Their sulfur content is very different,
so their machining speed is very different. 416 SS is about 40%
faster than 410 SS for machining.

Hardness
Grade 416 steel is a martensitic steel. These types of steels can be
hardened by heat treatment, and are relatively cheap. The ability of
416 steel to be hardened by heat compromises some of the other
properties commonly desired in steel products.
Formability
While this type of steel is can be easily cut, drilled, and grinded
down by machinery, it does not have a very good formability.
Formability refers to the ability of a metal to be readily bent,
shaped or stamped.
Weldability
Grade 416 stainless steel can be welded, although this process may
be more difficult to accomplish than with other grades, according to
Specialty Steel Supply. When welded, it must be annealed to ensure
sufficient ductility and corrosion resistance. Annealing is a type
of heat treatment.
